The march of bullshite
Mar. 14th, 2005 05:49 pmI swear to the Other Gods, if ever I hear anyone use the words "queer theory" around me in any context other than to mock it for the ludicrous excuse for sociopolitical grandstanding that it is, I will promptly snap that person's neck and paralyze him/her.
This also goes for "Marxist theory," "feminist theory," and/or "gender theory."
Now, if you want to have an actual, substantial discussion of homosexuality, class, or gender issues as they appear in a text as cultural indicators or topics of import to understanding said text or the cultural context in which is arose, then count me in--I love that stuff. Just don't use said discussion to EVER start grandstanding around me unless you really like lying in bed forever with a machine making you breathe.
