The MPAA and the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), am affiliate of the RIAA, have developed a program called Digital File Check that allows "employers and parents" to erase P2P software from computers so their employees and kids and fighting beta fish can't download mp3s and movies and, I guess, nude pictures of Claire Danes.
How long do you think it will be before this stupid thing gets hacked into a P2P program itself? $10 says some six-year-old from Scotland has already cracked the damned thing, rendering it all but useless.
Nice try, RIAA/MPAA, but this thing is no more than a temporary inconvenience to some people.
I think in honor of this new device, I'm going to start a new project: MC (Masta Cap'n) Weirdbeard. Yeah...gangsta rap is passe now. It's so early-'90s. So I say it's time for a new hiphop style to celebrate a similar group of thugs, gangbangas, and keelhaulers who, collectively, are a thousand times more popular and have a thousand times more staying power in the Western mind than any ol' Snoop Dogg or Dr. Dre. Yes, that's right--the time has come for PIRATE RAP.
