On a much less arthopodic note, here's a question for all my web-developer G's:

I've recently been teaching myself the ins and outs of XHTML and CSS (and, to a much lesser degree, Javascript as well) in order to completely redo the NYARLATHOTEP webpage, using the newest, best-supported techniques and concepts in order to make the site Totally Awesome(tm) as well as quicker to load, etc.

Now, the question is: I'm contemplating a completely layer-based layout utilizing <div> tags completely positioned, formatted, and controlled via CSS. One of the tricks I want to use, though, is DHTML/JavaScript scrollbars in layers. I mostly understand the JavaScript code, and as far as I can tell it's completely compatible with all 5.0+ browsers, but here's what I wonder: it's a big chunk of code--so just how much will that impact page loading times? Mind you, I don't give a shit about any connection speed less thn 56K, so....
