What the HELL?
Aug. 11th, 2004 09:50 pmThe Matrix defense.
People have claimed to be not guilty of murder because they are certain they exist in the Matrix and have only killed simulations of people.
What a fundamentally insane concept! Even if you kill a "simulation" in the Matrix, by the laws of the people living in the simulation, you have comitted murder--it is known only to the entities outside the universal sim that you have, in fact, just deleted a cunning Almost Intelligence sim. And since your stupid ass is firmly ensconced in the simulation, then you are held accountable by the laws of the virtual society you inhabit in the sim. In other words, you're guilty as a sonofabitch.
People will literally go to any length to sneak out from under The Law, won't they? If the US was controlled by Pegritzian Fascism, though, that sure as hell wouldn't happen.
