Productive!
Aug. 5th, 2005 08:24 pmToday I:
1. Finished reinstalling EVERYthing on my new computer, the affectionately named Goddamned Mothafuckin' Big Sony. I realized I have well over 200 FX, EQ, mastering, and other VST plugins and DirectX effects. Of which, I use maybe 8...but I can't live without all of them. Go figure.
2. Finally picked up Julia Kostova's The Historian. Supposedly, it is the best "vampire" novel written in ages, because it involves my homie Vlad II of Wallachia as The Vumpire and is more of a Gothic intellectual history adventure than it is a limpwristed, frilly Goth jackoff fantasy. It better live up to its reputation, or I'm going to kill the author and everyone who recommended her to me.
3. Bought and installed--without slicing open an artery or breaking anything on myself!--a new air-conditioner for the bottom floor of my house. My old one (it was ~5 years old) died a week ago and I tried to live without it, but I cannot survive without being refrigerated to about 286 K. It's a really good machine, too: only 6200 BTU but it cools the house down right nicely.
4. Started several new blog entries concerning The Devil's Rejects, War of the Worlds, consumer freedom and DRM, the history of the Pittsburgh Goth scene, and something about bugs.
5. Turned in final paperwork at Cal U. I am now officially a teacher there. Won't mean shit until the paychecks start coming in, though.
6. Mapped out the semester in Outlook. Just have to finish my syllabi and I can organize my class schedules. Wheee!
7. All of this considering I slept until nearly 3pm.
