Rich-Text Emails
Nov. 25th, 2005 12:29 amTraditionally, I've been none-too-found of "rich text" or HTML emails featuring goofball smileys, colored text, and assorted other useless items...mainly because so many abuse these functions. But, I've recently been looking into Gmail's "rich text" formatting options, which include the usual set of WYSIWYG additions such as colored text, highlighting, and so forth. I've discovered that a number of these functions--primarily the highlighting, the bold/italic emphasis, and, to a much lesser degree, the coloring functions--*could* be of great utility to me in daily use. Especially since a LOT of people (that is, damnear everyone) I know use Gmail.
So, I think I'm going to give 'em a try for a while. Don't expect to see emails from me decorated all over with useless coloring and fucking giddy little graphics (unless I can find a "smiley" out there of a wang flipping the bird or shooting lasers from its cyclopean output)...but I do find the concept of using bold highlighting and italic emphasis a bit appealing now. Be varned.
