Today was mad busy.

Got a new CD player installed in my car--FINALLY!--at Best Buy. The stereo was $150, extra parts were $50, and installation was free...so for $200, I can listen to decent fucking jams in my hooptie again. It plays MP3 CDs and is XM/Sirirus satellite radio ready, which I may take advantage of, depending on whether or not either of those services has an All New Wave All The Time channel. If so, color me right the hell in! Anyway, I picked up some new CDs today to test it out with (Public Enemy's latest, the new Conjure One, and the Killers' new limited edition of Hot Fuss with the extra unreleased tracks--one of which, "Glamorous Indie Rock n' Roll," was originally featured on the UK Edition instead of the song "Change Your Mind" for some reason), and I kicked into high gear with The Killers 'cause they's just so goddamned good.

I bought a lot of craft shit at Michael's, too. Weird wreaths made of dead vines and sticks that I plan to gussy up with some rusted barbwire (guess what? I have an entire roll of the shit in my basement, for some reason...I think I found it lying by the roadside last year) and maybe some old cables and chipsets from an old broken motherboard. Yes...Castle Pegritzstein, where Americana gets raped by industrialized Gothicism.

Eventually ended up at Ceremony, where--GLORY BE--[livejournal.com profile] ancilla played Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" followed immediately by the "Milkshake Busters" mash-up of Kelis' "Milkshake" and motherfucking "Ghostbusters." Dear lords, I almost exploded into a shower of blood, guts, jelly bracelets and JAMZ right on the dancefloor. Heavens to Dr. Kevorkian, it was a blast!

Oddly enough...and I knew this was going to happen eventually...I ran into a few of my students from Cal U at Ceremony. The one fellow came up to me and said, "Hey...you teach at Cal, don't you? My girlfriend's in one of your classes!" And there they were, on the dancefloor, gothed out to the max (or to what kids whose entire definition of gothicism is derived from Hot Topic can consider the max), and surprised as hell to find me bopping around there. "Well, hell!" I told them. "How many times have I talked about horror movies, The Corpse Bride, and old gothic fiction in class before now? Kinda makes send you'd find me here, doesn't it?!" It was cool, though.

But I'm old, and pathetic, so I left early in order to come home and go to sleep with my cat. *Le sigh*

Tomorrow, grading, the Stillerz game, some PHP programming, and--most likely--a handful of Vicodin. Maybe more details on the above, but who knows....Depends on whether I have time.

Now...my body's about to break down and strike the set for the day. Asta la Longhorn-Beta 5512.
