Conjure One, Extraordinary Ways
Oct. 16th, 2005 12:52 pmThe new Conjure One album is just fucking amazing. It's, like, if you took everything that was good about Delerium's later stuff, minus the random Bill Leeb wankiness, and combined it with some elements of Banco de Gaia and Fiona Apple, you'd have Conjure One. Rhys Fulber is a fucking genius. The beats is funky, the instrumentation incredibly lush and--quite frankly--beautiful, and the lyrics surprisingly good. Once again, most of the tracks feature various female vocalists who bring their own lyrical talents to the table, and for the most part they do it very well ("One Word" is a little wenis-y, but it's got a pretty melody and a good beat, so hey....), but the coolest thing is the Rhys Fulber himself does vocals on two tracks--one of which is a Percy Shelley poem set to music, and it's fucking cool. So, yeah, if you dig the Delerium-esque music, get this one NOW.
