Dance! Ya know it.
Feb. 26th, 2004 01:59 amLately, I find myself listening to a lot of dance music--nothing very thoughtful or creative...just decent gay-bar house and vocal trance. Stuff I normally wouldn't even vaguely be interested, but every now and again one just needs to take a break from the intelligent stuff and just shake ya groove thang, and that's all this stuff is good for.
I will say one thing, though: Kylie Minogue's new single, "Slow," is completely My Jam(tm). First of all, it's composed entirely of old, 80's analog synth sounds and drum machines and sounds like something recorded in 1982 by Afrika Bambataa. It cold rocks my booty.
This has gotten me to thinking...it's high time I get back to writing some goofy dance music myself. I've been working on the "Retarded Atari" songs again lately, and that will suffice, so we'll see where I can take them....Pure, silly braincandy built out of nothing but old videogame sounds and assorted other old analog drum machine sounds. Fresh!
