And yet...I've barely read anything from the Sandman comics. Strange, no? I've a passing familiarity with the Endless, but that's about it.

This reminds me that I should really finish Gene Wolfe's Latro in the Mist sometime soon. It's a really beautiful duology of books set during the Peloponnesian Wars, following the adventures of a foreign soldier with a terrible head wound that erases his memory at the end of every day but also gives him the ability to actually see the gods. There's one particularly beautiful scene in which Latro recounts see Morpheus drifting with eyes closed amongst Latro's exhausted comrades, bestowing them with sleep in the tired hours of the night.
