OK, in order to destress myself after work tonight, I'm making a list of all the songs I want to cover in the near-to-distant future. Feel my wannabe-80's-synthpop-star wrath!

  • Prince, "U got the Look." Currently working on this bitch, actually. It's a very simple song, yet funkee as hell. Plus, it sounds great with MechaPegritz and Godzilla samples worked into it.

  • Comsat Angels, "I'm Falling.". Not exactly a lovesong...more of an "oh, crap, I never expected this to happen...but I guess it's pretty fresh!" kind of song. Definitely a sentiment I can relate to, especially lately. This has been one of my favorite songs since I was eleven and it was featured in one of my alltime favorite movies, Real Genius. Now I must do my own totally special Real Dumbass version of it.

  • America, "Lonely People." 'Cause...well, I am. Very. Well, not horribly so--but definitely enough to make me want to remake a folk-rock song as a scary darkwave track.

  • Mitch & Mickey, "Kiss at the End of the Rainbow." Oh, dear. An actual lovesong. Must be something wrong with me....No, wait a sec--it's Mitch & Mickey for gods' sake!

  • Devo, "Girl U Want." I like songs about girls that have "U" in the title as well, apparently. I totally have to do a math-rock/nerd-techno cover of this

  • Way of the West, "City for Lovers.". A total disco-booty-rock jam. Nuff sed.

  • Q-Feel, "Dancing in Heaven." Another total disco-booty-rock jam.

  • Malice Mizer, "Brise." If I could only find the lyrics....

  • The Cars, "It's Magic." One of my alltime favorite songs from when I was a kid....I totally want to do a magnificent eurobeat version of this, totally gay-barred out.

  • John Prine, "All the Best." What a bitter, sad song. Probably the most bitter, most sad song I know of. Well...a lot of John Prine is like that. Maybe I'll do "Sam Stone" or "Souvenirs" as well.

  • My Favorite, "Absolute Beginners Again." 'Cause that's how I've been feeling lately: like I'm totally back at square one. Only this time, proceeding to square two won't be anywhere near as hard as it was before!

  • Dean Martin & Tony Bennet, "Some Enchanted Evening." Sooooooooo smoove. For the girlies, obviously. Well...maybe one in particular, but the rest of y'all can be down with it, too.

  • The Soggy Bottom Boys, "Man of Constant Sorrows." I'm gonna be real friggin' drunk when I do this one....

  • Starsailor, "Love is Here." Uhoh. Another love song? Christ...there's something wrong with me. Well, doesn't change the fact that it's a damn good song. I'll have to industrialize it properly, though.

  • Dio, "Rainbow in the Dark." Three words: Gay. Bar. House.

  • The Cure, "Close to Me." I've always loved this damn jam. Time to redo it using only Atari sounds!

  • Debbie Gibson, "No More Rhyme." Because I often wish I was a blonde, teen-pop songstress, too. Plus, this is such a pretty song, and it reminds me of eighth grade and one of the biggest crushes of my entire life: Jennifer Clark. It is from this girl that my predilection for tall, fair, statuesque blonde women comes from, so blame her if I drool sometime. And blame the song, too, 'cause I can't think of one without the other.

  • When in Rome, "The Promise." Yeahyeahyeah, another love song. Sure proof I'm deranged. Even surer proof is that I actually want to do a fairly faithful, non-screaming-and-machine-noises cover of this song. It's a great song, with a wonderful, powerful melody, and rather touching lyrics if, like me, you still nurse the bloodied remnants of a romantic heart in the late night hours when no one's around.

OK....That's enough. Now I'm actually gonna go work on "U got the Look."
