The exchange rate isn't very good right now.

There are a lot of whiskey conneisours out there who will easily pay that much for a good bottle; hell, even I have had some scotches that cost $90 for a bottle, and I'm hardly a conneisour. (The Macallan 18 year, and Johnnie Walker Blue Label) Go to the Macallan website, they have some limited bottlings that they are selling for up to 2000 pounds per bottle. (No, that's not a typo!) "Worth" is relative; this is a drink that is also a status symbol for the rich, who can throw around that kind of money. You can't buy good taste, but you can maybe buy the appearance of it.

If I were to spend that much on whiskey, I'd try to get something directly from Scotland. I know, I know, it's cool because it's Japanese-- I've got a bunch of little penguins I paid too much for myself. ^_^

I've actually had Johnnie Walker Blue Label, and it's pretty damned good--and I'm not a whiskey connosieur by any means. But it's true: you definitely can taste the quality!

Hell, I just want Suntory 'cause it's Japanese and Bill Murray kinda-sorta did the ads for it. :)

You can special order just about any commerciall available liquor straight from the PCLB. You can either call them (1-800-332-PLCB) or just ask the manager at your local liquor store.
