I love them. I really need to get more Rush music, and to let it have a greater influence on my own compositional philosophies. Viva la crazy mid-song tempo change! Also...now that I have a Fender Strat, I'm really feeling the need to learn to play it better and start rocking out in the oldskool vein. Could there perhaps be yet another Pegritz musical project on the horizon? A prog-rock project, perhaps? Pink Floyd meets Rush with a little America and John Prine and Nick Cave thrown in? Pretty damn likely.
As a matter of fact...
siliconedreamer, remember whenh we were talking about maybe doing some trip-hoppish stuff as well? I think I came up with a good name for that: Lethargette. A combination of lethargy and suffragette.
blackcatbon and/or
chuchotement, you may want to take note, because something with a name like Lethargette definitely needs female vocalists. :)
I've been putting up all my projects on Download.com for the past two days, and I'll let you know when they're all available, but prettymuch here're the projects that will be represented:
Nyarlathotep (duh)
derek.cf.PEGRITZ
A Doctrine of Works
Retar-D2
W.A.N.G.
and quite possibly
Black Tie Affair (old, old tracks, but good stuff I'm proud of anyway)
Get ready for a musical blitz of truly Pegritzian proportions!
You will note, too: Not all of it is depressing as hell or sadistically evil!

Date: 2004-04-28 08:31 pm (UTC)Also, if you're interested, they're supposed to be playing the Post Gazette Pavilion on May 31. I'm definitely going, and will be happy to have someone along with whom to split the parking fee. Hell, I'm highly tempted to then follow them to Columbus, OH for the July 2 concert.</obsessed fanboy>

Date: 2004-04-28 08:47 pm (UTC)If you really want to get into prog rock, I'd highly recommend Peter Hammill/Van der Graaf Generator as a much more interesting way to go . . .

Date: 2004-04-28 09:26 pm (UTC)I friggin' *love* Van der Graaf Generator, though! I just recently started downloading some of their stuff, and I do believe I needs to get Out There(tm) and start picking up CDs, as well....I'm still pretty new to them, though, so I don't really remember song titles and stuff yet, but I've been listening to them a lot when I get up in the mornings to get me going.
And, of course, there's always Hawkwind. Hehehe.
