Almost Over
Dec. 8th, 2004 04:15 pmIn two more days, the semester will be over for me, more or less. I still have some things to do during Finals Week (which is next week), but not much...mostly just upload grades and tie up loose ends here at the campus and maybe do some reading for ENG 4 finals. But that's not a big deal.
The thing is...I am so amazingly glad this semester is finally done. I simply have not been on top of things at all this semester. Classes went well, sure, and I had a lot of really good students--which made the process a lot more pleasant than it otherwise would've been--but nonetheless...this semester was jus off. Not even last Fall, when I was basically going stupidly mad and strangling in a miasma of pointless depression and dealing with two months of bronchitis, felt as plain ol' off as this one did. Nothing felt right, I could never really keep my mind on anything, grading was an absolute bitch that I literally had to FORCE myself to do after the first week or two....
One of the reasons things have been so blah this semester is simply the fact that my schedule is so choked. At least three days out of the week, I am up from 9am 'til 1am that night, nonstop, one job following the other with scarcely any time to eat or rest properly. I'm probably sleep-deprived as all hell, which is why I usually sleep twelve hours or so every day on weekends...and that is definitely not normal for me (I usually get by on nine or ten hours of sleep, max).
This mysterious exhaustion that has been following me around for the last two months is another thing, though. I'm stopping in at my doctor's tomorrow to see if someone can have a look at me and figure out just why I'm feeling so lifeless anymore...and why I keep having migraine headaches (like I did Saturday and then again last night). I'm starting to suspect that I somehow ended up with a very atypical sinus infection that may be sucking my life out through my nose but not otherwise giving me the usual symptoms (sore face, stuffy nose, etc.). Either that or I've got chronic fatigue plague or whatever the hell it's called....Some kind of mutated, not-quite-as-bad mono.
At any rate, things are almost over and I'll once again be able to sleep properly and get myself back on track. I don't know what the hell happened to me, but I hope it will fix itself before the start of the next semester.
This general malaise will not stand, man.
