I suppose one of these days I'm going to start recording weird IDM-meets-gothrock versions of some of my alltime favorite doowop songs. Here are the once I'm thinking of doing:
Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, "Why do fools fall in love" (a must)
The Five Satins, "In the Still of the Night"
The Moonglows, "Sincerely"
Clyde McPhatter, "A Lover's Question"
The Marcells, "Heartaches" (a MUST)
The Capris, "There's a Moon Out Tonight" (laced with samples from An American Werewolf in London)
The Platters, "Twilight Time"
The Penguins, "Earth Angel" (Bella Morte does an incredible version of this, but I'm gonna make it AWESOME)
The Dell Vikins, "Whispering Bells"
The Crests, "16 Candles" (maybe)
The best part about it is: I'm not going to even TRY to put together an actual vocal quintet to belt these out--I'm just going to do all the voices myself. That's going to be weird. I'll need to teach myself a LOT about arranging and mixing in order to do that. Plus, my voice automatically sounds like hell, so I'll need to be breaking out the vocoders and whatnot...so eventually, it'll all probably sound like Kraftwerk meets Otto von Schirach meets Sisters of Mercy. Bizarre.
