OK, here comes the big-ass weekend/spring-break 2004 update. Have you properly fastened your safety harness and activated your My Jam(tm) detector? Good! Then let's start the ride:

Basically, I slept most of the week. Except for Wednesday night/Thursday morning, when I didn't get to bed until, hell, 6:30 a.m. or somesuch ungodly hour...only to be awakened two hours later when the drillers putting in the gas well behind my house apparently punched through into hell and a huge, 100-foot-plume of bright blue flaming gas or escaping souls shot up into the air with a shriek so loud it rattled the windows in my house. Terrifying! I actually couldn't get to sleep after that, so most of Thursday was spent in a tottering haze. Had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] alternakittyn and Chris at the Murray Avenue Grill, went shopping, and then hit up 80s Nite for the first time in ages with [livejournal.com profile] siliconedreamer. There was, of course, ultradrinking and hours upon hours of bodyrockin', which...on three hours of sleep, prettymuch finished my ass for the night.

Friday was the first day of Tekkoshocon, and we didn't get there until 6 or so, at which time I hooked up with [livejournal.com profile] tlttlotd and [livejournal.com profile] lyssabard, whom I haven't seen in faaaaaaaaaaaaaar too long. Thank you again for the wonderful bottled Deep One and the incredible card--those totally made my night. What further made my night was [livejournal.com profile] alternakittyn's panel on ParaPara, which may be my new favorite dance style ever....Some of the music (basically just 150-180bpm vocal trance) can be a little annoying, sure, but then again, some of it--such as the superpowered eurobeat covers of "Winnie the Pooh" and other Disney classics--is so completely bad-assed that it crosses my eyes. After that, came back to Shadyhaus, drank, passed out, slept....

Saturday was just stonecold rockin'. Got to hit up the con's dealer room, where the owner of Kawaii showed me San-X's Relax Bear animation, thereby cementing forever my dedication to stonecold bear-suited chillin'. Ate dinner, ran around, and finally saw Versus, which has to be one of the best damned comedies I've ever seen...even though I think it's actually supposed to be a spooky-spooky Japanese zombie/yakuza film. Nonetheless, it was damnear hysterical, and basically when aRvin and I doubleteam a film with the MST3K action, stuff gets hectic and very amusing! At some point, a zombie got its head smashed with a flying fist, and I shouted out "FATALITY!" to the nearly-fatal amusement of some kids in front of me, who for some reason found that to be the very height of humor. But then [livejournal.com profile] alternakittyn came to fetch me to the dance, whereat I spent the remainder of the night rocking myself to pieces (and I do mean pieces, because right now my ankles still hurt!) to some of my favorite music on earth, including, naturally, "Yatta!" and the Winnie the Pooh theme and the Polysics. It's now official: all the good New Wave and dance music on earth is coming out of Japan. [livejournal.com profile] ancilla is one stone-cold DJ: no one else has kept my flippin' out on the dancefloor longer than she has, so big ups to you, girl!

Sunday...well, I was too wasted after the night before to really do anything but meet with [livejournal.com profile] illusion_of_joy to get the layout done for the forthcoming release, hang out with [livejournal.com profile] missjoi, and then drive my exhausted stump of a body back home for long, leisurely soak in a tub full of Burt's Bees bath salts and some goofball recording. See...I'm now inspired to start recording stuff under the name MEGAPEGRITZ: mostly just gay-bar dancetracks with lots of Godzilla and Gamera samples. Yeah, it's been done a billion times before, but what do I care? Originality is over-rated. Lately, I just want to do stupid fun stuff. Like covering Prince's "U Got the Look." Hey, if Gary Numan can do it, so can I. I'm just going to synth it up something fierce and pack it chock full of idiotic Japanese pop-culture references. It will be superhumorous!

It was very nice to come home to my little gray dustball's meowing and psychotic tailchasing, though. Of course, my mother looks after her very well, and will come over to my place to keep her company, but I know she still misses me a lot--which is why despite the greatness of the weekend I'm glad to be home now. Admittedly, of the two kitties most prominent in my life now, both of whom I just adore, Kristi is still the one that most people regard as my "daughter," so she naturally earns a certain preferential treatment. Heh. But, according to most of the folks I know, I am the King of Cats, after all, so....

OK. Enough babble. I must now return to the sea from whence I came, leaving behind me a wake of eXtreme Devastation(tm)...or at least a bunch of terribly bored people.

Hell, yeah, dude! That rocked. We must do it all again sometime. And I've been looking to see if I can actually score some Suntory whiskey, but it's coming up empty so far....*le sigh*
