It all makes too much damn sense
Mar. 18th, 2004 10:37 pmI've always been a big Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry fan--since I was ten, actually, and I heard Avalon for the first time because my mom loved that album and bought it on tape--but lately, thanks to the influence of a certain film I've been obsessing over, I've rediscovered the band and have been listening to a lot of their 80s-era stuff again (which was always my favorite, naturally). So anyway, "More Than This." Great song. Great lyrics, too.
Here they go:
I could feel at the time
There was no way of knowing
Fallen leaves in the night
Who can say where they're blowing
As free as the wind
And hopefully learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing
I was fun for a while
There was no way of knowing
Like a dream in the night
Who can say where we're going
No care in the world
Maybe I'm learning
Why the sea on the tide
Has no way of turning
More than this - there is nothing
More than this - tell me one thing
More than this - there is nothing
I was gonna do this song at karaoke at the con last weekend, but never got around to it. Something tells me I'm gonna be hitting up punk-rock karaoke at Ryan's Pub this Sunday night to do it. So who's with me on this one?
