Christ. Codeine-based painkillers may stop the agony of a total jacked-up ankle, but they also completely and utterly destroy your ability to focus on anything for more than five minutes. Guess I'll be finishing those papers tomorrow in school....

For some reason, though, the hazy state induced by Vicodin gives me the inspiration to craft wicked, strange ambience. I think it's because I don't want to fall asleep just yet, but am physically incapable of doing anything but pushing a mouse around and pitchbending samples of old Dean Martin songs down a few thousand times. Anyway, I actually wrote a new dark ambient derek.cf.PEGRITZ piece. It'll most likely be on the third d.cf.P EP, Please notify next of kin, and it's called "for the first time in six months." As everything that I do is, it's autobiographical, and I bet you can't guess what it deals with!

In addition to that, I give you a webcam pic of me working on it, suitably Photoshopped to capture how I feel right now:

You're only coming through in waves....

I think I may have to go to the hospital tomorrow and get this damned ankle X-rayed. Guh.

So is the pixellation REALLY supposed to be there this time for real? Heheh...

Yep! This time it is entirely intentional, and not at all a result of program de-resolution for the purposes of quick and easy screen redraw. :)

It's actually all pixellated just so no one can see how friggin' glassy and crossed my eyes are right now....

I think I'll go pass out for real now.

Dare I say it, I like it a lot.

Although it doesn't inspire "those little slices of death", it does conjure some interesting images.

Umm..., I meant the music sampling. Lol.

'Sounds pretty cool. Keep at it. :-)

Yeah....That song was basically just one sound: a hyperextended sample of some beat (the poppy/crackly/snappy sound) with some assorted heavy reverbed ambience behind it. Simple as hell--it took me three minutes to do. But it came out *so* eerie and twitchy.
