Whoah. Eerieness!!!
Apr. 14th, 2004 02:16 amDriving home from work tonight, through rainslicked streets and pitchblack forests, I passed by the old Greek Orthodox Church in New Salem, a town right over the hill from my house...and behind it, I suddenly noticed all the many strange, flickering lights in the blackness--like constellations shaken out of the sky and dumped behind the church. It took me a moment to recognize what they were: candles on the graves in the Orthodox cemetery on the hillside behind the church.
Now, that in and of itself is a rather spooky--candleflames sputtering in the raindrenched night--but here's the kicker.
The pattern the lights formed is this (roughly):

For those of you who don't know...it's the symbol I use as shorthand for "Nyarlathotep, the Crawling Chaos," so I don't have to write out the whole name constantly on CDs and stuff!!!
I actually pulled over in the church parkinglot and *stared* for about twenty minutes--getting nicely soaked in the process--because I was literally dumbfounded. I almost wrecked my damn car turning around to witness it. I WISH I had a functional camera, because I would've taken 100 pictures of it....Hopefully, the lights will still be mostly there tomorrow so I can stop and maybe take some photos tomorrow night.
Biz. Arre. That's all I can say. I feel all shivery and weird now.
I think the Other Gods are definitely giving me a heads-up here....
[Ahhh, goddamnit....LJ elides all the spaces necessary to make my little piece of spooky ASCII art look right. BASTARDS!]
