Stolen unabashedly from [livejournal.com profile] eolh, I present to you:

First Record Bought: A 45 of Blondie's "Call Me," which my mother gave me $1 to buy when I was five years old. Well do I remember that day....The NRM at the Uniontown Mall in that era, the end of the '70s, was friggin' gigantic and full to the brim with vinyl and those newfangled "tapes." It took me forever to find that damned 45, but when I did, I clutched it to my chest and drooled. Debbie Harry...inspiration for so much Junior Wood(tm).

First Concert: Pigface, 1992. Two words: En Esch. Lab Report opened for them, too. It was cool as hell and spooky as fuck.

Favorite Music Movie: Pink Floyd's The Wall. Duh.

Favorite Music Book: Needle in the Groove by Jeff Noon.

Favorite Songwriter: Gary Numan or Nivek Ogre. Or John Prine. Or maybe John Wesley Harding. Or that guy from Iron & Wine.

Favorite Producer: Dave "Rave" Ogilvie.

Favorite Record Label(s): Mute, Numa, Saddle Creek, 6 Degrees, Oh Boy!

Favorite Magazine: I really like The Sentimentalist for music reviews. Otherwise, I sometimes read Electronic Musician and/or Keyboard for new tech or stuff like that.

Favorite Bassist: Bootsy Collins! There is no better.

Favorite Album Cover: Gary Numan, The Pleasure Principle.

Favorite Teen Idol: Debbie Gibson. Yes, I'm serious. Or Britney Spears.

Artist Who Broke Your Heart: Madonna. I used to love Madonna...but, my gods, have you heard her last two albums?! *gag*

Artist You Will Always Believe In: Gary Numan. Man, as soon as he quits trying to be Trent Reznor, he's going to be fucking awesome again.

Singer Who Makes Your Skin Crawl: That fucking thing that "sings" for Sopor Aeturnus. Varney or Annavarney or whatever the hell it calls itself. Jesus F. Christ, that monster terrifies me!

Singer Who Makes You Swoon: Hope Sandoval or Johnette Napolitano.

Favourite Sound: Anything played on the Polymoog.

Album You Will Always Defend: Skinny Puppy, Remission. I still think it's one of their best albums despite the bad recording quality.

Album You Own That No One Else Does: The Buggles, Adventures in Modern Recording. I paid $36 for a Japanese import of this bitch--the only time, to my knowledge, it has ever been issued on CD.

Classic Album You Own but Don't Like: Pink Floyd, Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

Artist You're Supposed to Like but Don't: My Bloody Valentine.

Song You Can't Stand by an Artist You Like: Mazzy Star, "Mary of Silence." Hope Sandoval sounds like she's on a heroin nod and can barely make her lips and tongue work to shape words. Plus, the music is just badly mixed. Muddy and drony and stupid.

Band That Should Break Up: The Cruxshadows. Please. Do it for the children. And then, Rachel, you can come and play violin for NYARLATHOTEP, the Crawling Chaos.

Band That Should Re-form: THE FUCKING COMATEENS. Oh, my GODS, do I want them to come back. Too bad the one North brother from the band died in 1986.

Guilty Pleasure: Vanilla Ice. Not the wannabe-hardcore pot-smokin' skate-punkin' greaseball Vanilla, either--I'm talking the glitzy, glammy, rhinestone-jacketed Word To Ya Mutha/Ninja Rap Vanilla of days of yore!

Favorite Music DVD: Pink Floyd's The Wall or Skinny Puppy's Ain't It Dead Yet?

Concert You Wish You'd Seen: The Hong Kong opening for the Killers tonight in New York.

Dream Collaboration: Gary Numan, Skinny Puppy, and Roger Waters collaborating on a sequel to The Wall in which Pink gets sucked into a bleak future dominated by Sky_Net and has to team up with a dysfunctional machman and a pack of escaped, psychotic lab animals to destroy the re-incarnated Judge and shut down the Universe.
