if any of my students use this site (ExampleEssays.com) from now on, thanks to the accidental wonder that is Google's sidebar ads (which are the only internet ads I have no problem with whatsoever: they're unobtrusive, but they also have connected me with some pretty interesting sites).

I've browsed through some of the essays on that site and, to be honest, most of them are pretty decent--as examples. I may well print out a couple of them to hand out to my students by way of example throughout the semester, since I always run into a couple of students who just don't quite understand how to do something until they see how someone else did it (which I can definitely relate to, as I can be that way a lot myself). Nonetheless, I'll be keeping a keen eye on this site and others like it to make sure no one tries to buffalo me by just downloading one of these suckers and handing it in as their own work.

If that happens, there will be hell to pay. I get vicious when plagiarism surfaces.

I like Google's ads, too. They're one of the few (only?) companies that has succeeded in offering me valuable advertisements-- I get particularly good ones with GMail.

Letting your students know right away that you're hip to essay sites and ready to have them expelled is probably good policy.
