JAYZUS! Why must it be so fucking hard to find freakin' surgical footage, or something of the sort, wherein I can find sampleable audio material? I'm only looking for sounds of doctors talking about surgical procedures, ambient operating room sounds, and the like--you'd think that stuff wouldn't be so hard to find....

Didn't The Learning Channel have a program called "Operation" at one time? I remember watching it and almost throwing up. But now I need it. I need to SAMPLE IT! And I need to capture scenes of cardiac surgery for the next Pegritz show....

Anyone want to help a brotha out?

it's probably because of potential malpractice suits that this stuff isn't widely available. but good luck in your hunt!

I think the Learning Channel still shows that series, it's called "surgery" or something. maybe you could sample it right off the tv or something. barring that...know any good foley artists? you could also sample bits from "house on haunted hill" when he's cutting into the mental patient in the beginning.
p.s. the gurney smells like death. now my car smells like death. although i'll admit that the combination of that and my chanel no.5 smells slightly arousing.

Oh no! I'm sorry your car stinks. :( We'll have to clean that sucker this weekend before I store it someplace.

Yeah....I'm thinking of hitting up Pitt's medical library--but I don't know if I'd have borrowing privileges there or even how to go about getting them, as I've never set foot in the Hillman Library once. I'd bet they'd have damnear everything I'd ever want, though.

HBO has this series called autopsy, so if you could get a hold of that it might work. Def. look into the learning channel stuff though, I used to watch that show all the time. Search on ebay for tapes.

That show was awesome, and you know how HBO puts everything than possibly can onto DVD boxsets.

on Discovery Health, they're *constantly* showing heart transplants, in shows like "Trauma: Life in the ER", "Impact: Storeis of Survival", "The Critical Hour", "Little Miracles" (pediatric heart surgery), "Real Life in the ER" (freaky stories of actual ER events as retold and acted out... last night's episode had a 7-foot Russian guy, restrained to a gurney, actually stand up with the 200-pound gurney still strapped to his back, dashing about & threatening the doctors in his drunken rage)

Discovery Health is pretty much all I watch these days. The only thing they show more than heart transplants is babies being born. If I see one more live birth, I'll fucking puke. At least it isn't smellavision.

*barf*
