"Teresa soon became addicted to the fear she had tried so hard to avoid. She began to crave the horror movies and books that scared her."

Addicted to Horror! But that's okay, because God done come down from his throne in the clouds and saved her from those Dean Koontz and Stephen King novels.

Fucking candy-ass. She wouldn't be so hot on the whole God/Devil thing if she'd read some Lovecraft, I'll tell you that....

Yeah...the whole "personal relationship" thing is definitely getting out of hand. Now, there's nothing psychologically damaging or "wrong" about thinking of God in personal terms: if The Big G is everywhere and has complete control over the cosmos, then thinking of Him or Her or It as someone that you can relate to individually isn't that far-fetched--one can speak individually with your deity and expert to be heard, since one doesn't particularly need an "intermediary" or intercessor like a priest to mediate your communications with the define. That's a very Essene concept. But taking it to the point where you treat God as some kind of Big Brother always looking over your shoulder, willing to hold useless conversations about small talk and grocery lists, and shite like that is tantamount to the invisible friend you had as a kid. We don't criticize children for using their imaginations because, hopefully, they outgrow the invisible friend phase and find rewarding friendships and relationships with actual people. But people for whom Jesus H. Christ is the invisible friend...well. It's pathological. Simple as that.
