I just found a mint--MINT--shrinkwrapped--SHRINKWRAPPED--copy of Industry's unbelievably amazingly good 1984 album Stranger to Stranger on eBay. It was never opened. It was never played.
And I got it....For $7. Shipping and handling included.
SEVEN FREAKING DOLLARS!!!
You have no idea how obsessed I am with this album. I discovered Industry through the New Wave Outpost in 2000 with the song "In the Still of the Night", and immediately had to seek out as much as I could find by them. I ended up downloading a number of pretty-decent mp3s from the album--including the lead single, and only real hit, "State of the Nation"--from the late, and VERY lamented, Audiogalaxy.com. Along with my Comateens mp3s, they are the most jealously guarded and multiply-backed-up songs in my entire 100,000-plus-song collection. But this album was never released on CD (though, occasionally, you'll find CD-Red versions of it going on eBay for everywhere from $10 to $75), and it's actually pretty hard to find on vinyl now. I already have a copy, which I ordered years and years ago from...ummm, GEMM.com, I think--or something like that--but it's not in the greatest condition. I remember paying around $10 for it, too.
And I just got a MINT FUCKING COPY FOR $7.
This will be the one that I convert to mp3 and spread throughout the entire universe. Pay attention, folks, 'cause chances are you'll be getting this for X-mass this year. :)
On a side note: syllabi done, I'm exhausted, going to sleep.

Date: 2006-08-03 05:04 pm (UTC)personally.. not to be forward or anything... but I've been dying to swap music with you. You find the greatest things. Can we trade music for winter holidays or something? would you be interested? I don't know what I have that might interest you but I'll dig around. There's a slim chance I have some things you might not have heard.
