What. A. Disturbing. Film.

Oh, it's a very fun film...for the first hour or so--Seth Green plays literally the most fabulous little 'mo I've ever seen on film, and Macauley Culkin is surprisingly good as well (though I think his younger brother, the one who was in The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, would've done a better job); plus, club kid culture is just so fascinatingly bizarre in general. But once the drugs get out of control and everything starts the inevitable K-and-smack-and-crack-fueled plummet...wow, does it get troubling.

Not even Chloe Sevigny prancing around in a bikini made of ER facemasks (something that just shoots like a whitehot shunt straight into the naughty part of my brain) could distract me from the sheer sordidness of the film's secondhalf. Good god, what with the outlandish costumes and the grimy photography...it was like watching a migraine smeared with rat poison. Fascinating still, but painful as all hell.

Macaulay Culkin? Good lord... I remember REALLY liking Home Alone in an immature kind of way (Macaulay Culkin is my age, see...) but I haven't thought of that kid-- er, that guy-- in AGES.

So he can actually act, then?

He actually *can* act! It surprised the hell out of me....His entire *family* can act, actually--his younger brothers, Rory and...uhh, the one whose name I can never, ever remember, are even better actors than he is. But they all look exactly alike. It's sometimes difficult to tell them apart, except that Macauley kinda looks older a drugged-out, No Name looks younger, and Rory is still a kid. Weird!

It's Kieran. He's been in some very good films; I really enjoyed him in Igby Goes Down opposite Claire Danes. (There were a lot of amazing performances in that film; Ryan Phillippe absolutely disappeared into his character, I didn't even recognize him.)
